The Italic Family
The cursive italic grind, with a wide down-stroke and a narrower cross-stroke. This has more rounded edges to be more pleasant and forgiving to write with – the most popular option.A more rounded and even more forgiving option is the stub, which is what inspired other well known nib designs such as the Journaler.
The converse, a less forgiving but more precise nib is the crisp italic grind, which sacrifices ease of use (to an extent) for maximum line variation with the thinnest cross stroke.
